![]() ![]() With bridged networking, VirtualBox uses our host system’s device driver to capture data from the physical network and add data into it. The reason why the VM says it’s connected to the Wired Connection is because virtualization technology, like VirtualBox, abstracts the guest VM from the physical hardware and network infrastructure of the host. ![]() The VM has a different network subnet ( 10.0.2.x), separate from the host network ( 192.168.1.x): $ ip addressģ: wlp1s0: mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UP group default qlen 1000 Moreover, if we look at the VM’s IP address using the ip command: $ ip addressĢ: enp0s3: mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel state UP group default qlen 1000 However, once the VM is running, it says that it’s connected to a Wired connection instead of a Wireless connection: In the VirtualBox VM Settings, we open Settings > Network > Enable Network Adapter > Attached to: NAT. Let’s create a Ubuntu 22.04 LTS virtual machine and setup the NAT networking mode: However, it has some limitations, such as it being invisible and unreachable from the outside Internet unless we setup the port forwarding. I figure the more I can prepare will make for less work when problems/issues arise.NAT is the simplest way of accessing external networks from a virtual machine, making it the default networking mode in VirtualBox. I have multiple ideas, ambitions and business plans at the ready. I basically want to have enough all round knowledge, so that I feel comfortable setting something up from scratch - and hopefully make it grow into a business. And also trying to learn more and more about social media, advertising, marketing. ![]() Lately I'm also learning Adobe Premiere Pro, I have good experience with Photoshop so I'm picking Adobe Premiere up pretty quick. and I am in the business of fixing IT problems ^_^ I could go home and install Kali or any Linux straight onto a laptop - but that's just ignoring the VB/WIFI Adapter issue I currently have, and that doesn't fix the problem. So your assumptions of my attitude are pretty spot on =) I am aware of the multiple ways the OS can be used. I've been playing with computers from a young age. and I just want to increase my network/security knowledge for other work opportunities. I've worked professionally in IT for 14 years mostly support, installation, networking. could anyone shed some light and help me understand what's going on.? It looks to me that the machine can't see the wifi adapter as an adapter however it does see that it is plugged into the usb on my host machine which makes me think it may need a driver installing within Kali Linux.
